International Ballet Academy

Adult Ballet

Whether you’re a veteran dancer or always wanted to learn ballet, our Adult/Open Ballet classes offer a great opportunity to get moving!  Payment is by the class or with a class card option, so dancers come when they can work it into their busy schedule. Adult/Open classes are also great for older teenage dancers who may want a more relaxed environment for learning, re-introduction, or supplemental to current training.

Accessibility Class

A partnership with Thrive Upstate, International Ballet offers a free weekly ballet class for adults with intellectual disabilities. Taught by IB President & Founder Lena Forster, the class incorporates elements of ballet conditioning to bring movement, fitness, musicality, pleasure, and creativity to the students and volunteers. In addition to the weekly class, regular participants and volunteers are invited to attend The Nutcracker at no cost and perform in the Academy’s annual year-end demonstration.

The 2019-2020 Accessibility Class is sponsored by Greenville Health Authority and Flourish.

Scholarship Program

International Ballet established its first official scholarship fund in 2014 offering five scholarships in its inaugural year. In 2017, the Jurgen Forster Boys Scholarship Fund was established to support the training of young male students at IB. In the 2018-2019 Season, thirty-seven students were awarded full or partial scholarships from these two funds. Additionally, the Cassandra Gary Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 and awards a $1,000 merit scholarship to one student selected by the Gary Family in honor of Cassandra Gary. International Ballet continuously seeks gifts of support for its scholarship funds to meet the needs of students demonstrating noteworthy talent, work ethic, and / or financial need.
