INTERNATIONAL BALLET ACADEMY

Lower Division

Mommy & Me, Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Studio Performance Group

Placement in the lower division is based on a combination of many factors, including age, ability, coordination, maturity, strength, cognition, and group interaction. Students often spend several years in each level as they progress and develop their skills.

Mommy & Me

An interactive movement class designed for young dancers (18 months+) and their parent/caregiver.  Each class will introduce the dancing duo to exercises to develop rhythm, coordination skills, spatial relationships, and social skills.  Toddling dancers will improve cognitive development by using story-time imagination. 

Dress Code: Dance / Athletic Wear of Choice
Class: 45 min / Tuesday 9:45am - 10:30am
18 months - 3 years old

Pre-Ballet

The class focuses on creative movement, musicality, basic positions, movements, and terms of classical ballet, with mat and center-based exercises to develop skills.

Students must be potty trained upon enrollment, pre-ballet placement is based on age by September 1, 2024.

Classes are 45 min once per week
Class Level is based on age as of Sept 1.
Pre-Ballet A:  3 year olds
(light pink leotard Bloch cap sleeve 5602)
Pre-Ballet B:  4 year olds
(light pink leotard Bloch cap sleeve 5602)

Pre-Ballet C:  5 year olds
(white leotard Bloch cap sleeve 5602)

Pre-Ballet D:  6 year olds

Ballet 1

Class is structured around mat-based conditioning exercises and center-work focusing on musicality, strength, proper form, flexibility, coordination, and classical ballet terminology and movements.

Classes are 1 hour, 1-2 classes a week
Class Color: LIGHT BLUE
(preferred Leotard is light blue Bloch tank 5605)

Age Requirement: 7+
Eligible for Studio Performance Group (SPG), Nutcracker Auditions (8+ year olds)

Ballet 2

Students build upon their developed skills, integrating conditioning exercises with introductory barre work and expanded center-work, attending class twice a week to increase consistency.  

Students attend a Demo Class (choose one), and an additional class for a total of two times a week.

Classes are 1.5 hours 2 times a week
Class Color: Lilac / Lavender
(Preferred leotard is Lilac Wear Moi “Galate”)
Age Requirement: 9+
Eligible for Character (will need
 Bloch Accent Canvas Character Shoes (SKU # S0326L), Studio Performance Group (SPG), Nutcracker Auditions (8+ year olds)

Studio Performance Group

$186 per semester or $373 for full year
Meets on Wednesdays from 4:30-6pm

In Studio Performance the last week of classes each semester. Free limited quantity tickets available. 

  • Students learn and perform a “mini" version of a classic, full-length ballets

  • Open to IB students in Ballet 1-3

  • 1.5 Hour class, once a week

  • A wonderful introduction to performance skills for younger student and excellent preparation for students whose goal might be to audition for the IB Trainee program in Ballet 3.

  • Work together with peers as well as students at different levels, providing mentorship opportunities for older dancers

  • Flexible commitment - Students may participate in Fall only, Spring only, or both

  • Examples of past performances include Swan Lake, Coppelia, Cinderella, Giselle, & Sleeping Beauty
